For Classroom Educators
We equip teachers with the knowledge and tools to implement effective, research-backed pedagogy for literacy instruction and develop inclusive practices for students with a dyslexic profile. We have evidence that structured literacy is the most effective approach when it comes to teaching all children to read, but how to implement this in the day-to-day classroom can be overwhelming. TTL offers hands-on packages for schools that include follow-up learning and the option of being mentored through the implementation or we can tailor professional learning to meet the structured literacy needs of your school that can fit in with staff meetings or whole days for professional learning.

For Literacy Specialists
We provide support for language therapy specialists with training and resources to bridge the gap between intervention strategies and best-practice approaches, ensuring a seamless, evidence-based approach to student support. Our ‘TTL Structured Literacy Educational Therapist Course’ is a comprehensive training program designed to equip educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement a structured literacy approach to provide intervention/therapy for those with a dyslexic profile as a specialist intervention practitioner. Professional Learning FAQs
What is structured literacy?
Structured Literacy is a teaching approach that is explicit, systematic, and evidence-based, designed to help all students — especially those with reading difficulties — develop strong reading and writing skills. It is especially effective for students with dyslexia or other learning challenges.
Key features of Structured Literacy include:
Explicit instruction: Concepts are taught directly and clearly
Systematic and cumulative: Skills are introduced in a logical order, building from simple to complex.
Multisensory methods: Learning engages visual, auditory, and tactile/kinesthetic pathways to reinforce understanding.
Focus on foundational skills: These include phonology (sounds), sound-symbol recognition, syllable types, morphology (meaning units), syntax, and semantics (vocabulary and comprehension).
Diagnostic teaching: Instruction is informed by continuous assessment, so it’s tailored to meet individual student needs.
How will this professional learning help me address the needs of students with dyslexia or other learning difficulties?
Structured Literacy training equips teachers with practical, evidence-based strategies to explicitly teach reading and writing skills in a clear, systematic way. For students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties, this is essential because they often struggle with the foundations of language, such as phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and comprehension. This training ensures that your literacy teaching is inclusive, effective, and aligned with best-practice research — giving all students, especially those with dyslexia, a stronger chance at literacy success.
What types of resources and support will be provided throughout the training?
Handouts to support workshops, word lists, resources and scaffolds to conduct lessons and assessments and one phonogram pack per participant.
How is the training delivered?
Depending on the course, it can be in-person, online, or a combination of both.
What ongoing support is available after completing the professional learning course?
Your presenter/mentor is available to troubleshoot any questions you have following the training. If you choose to participate in our practicum, you will have a mentor assigned to you to support you with all aspects of the practicum.
