Enrichment

Our enrichment groups and academic coaching aim to give students a safe environment in which they can be challenged and grow in areas of interest or need.

We all know that students grow in so many ways from the opportunity to extend themselves in a safe environment. Our enrichment opportunities are in the form of workshops after school and are planned to create a safe yet challenging environment. The educators who run these workshops are passionate about their special interest and create a high-energy and positive environment for students.

Talk for Writing Workshops

Our Talk for Writing workshops, led by our inspiring and creative educators, are designed to enhance writing skills through a proven three-stage approach: imitation, innovation, and invention. In the imitation stage, students internalise and learn key texts, identifying transferable ideas and structures. During innovation, students work alongside teachers to adapt these structures and create new versions. Finally, in the invention stage, students gain the confidence to independently craft original texts. This approach helps students understand the elements and structure of written language, empowering them to improve their writing ability.

These workshops are open to all students in years 3-6 on the Coffs Harbour Coast and take place at Bishop Druitt College on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30- 4:45pm.

Academic Coaching: Building Skills for Success

Our academic coaching provides targeted support for students struggling with executive functioning challenges. We help students plan, organise, and manage their workload, tackling difficulties with time management, the breakdown of tasks and what to focus on. Whether it’s breaking down assignments, improving study strategies, structuring written responses or strengthening problem-solving skills, our coaches provide the structure and guidance needed for success. Sessions are personalised to meet each student’s needs, building independence and confidence in their academic journey. These sessions are currently conducted via Zoom and are at flexible times.
