Language and Literacy Therapy
Triple Thread Learning Specialises in Language and Literacy Therapy
How Triple Thread Offers Language and Literacy Therapy
Triple Thread Learning specialises in structured, evidenced-based and personalised language literacy therapy for people struggling with oral and written communication and those with dyslexic learning profiles of any age to develop functional language skills. Our language therapy sessions are based on the Orton-Gillingham/MSL approach.

The Triple Thread Learning Process
Triple Thread Learning offers personalised, evidence-based language therapy for individuals aged 4+ who experience challenges with functional communication. Our services are tailored to each person’s needs, including those with dyslexia or other language difficulties, though a diagnosis is not required. Using a structured, systematic process based on the Orton-Gillingham/MSL approach, we start with an initial consultation to create a clear plan for support. We offer flexible sessions, both in-person (at schools, homes, or our workspace) and online.
What is the Orton Gillingham/MSL approach?
Originally developed by Dr Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham in the 1920’s, the Orton-Gillingham approach (OG) remains the most effective therapy for the remediation of language-based learning difficulties. Also referred to as Multisensory Structured Language (MSL), OG is heralded as “the gold standard for the treatment and remediation of dyslexia” by the Australian Dyslexia Association.
The OG/MSL approach focuses on the learning needs of the individual student. Systematic, diagnostic, prescriptive and evidence-based, this approach teaches the structure of language as an integrated lesson format. Sessions address all of the essential aspects of literacy, intending to foster fluent, enthusiastic and independent functional communication.
The OG/MSL approach is differentiated as evidence-based therapy as opposed to instruction lacking in scientific support. This evidence-based therapy is not designed to replace existing learning support in an educational environment.
Initial and ongoing assessments and adjustments drive instruction and this diagnostic aspect allows for interventions to be tailored to the unique needs of each individual, making it effective for those with persistent functional communication challenges. It supports working memory and processing skills, which are crucial to developing functional communication skills to participate more effectively within families, social circles and the wider community.
Language and Literacy Therapy FAQs
How do I know if language therapy will be of benefit?
We begin with an initial assessment consult to identify the client’s specific strengths and weaknesses in language literacy development. If significant delays are identified, we would then recommend therapy. A person does not have to have a specific diagnosis to access our services.
I’m only after strategies to support my child, not therapy, can you help with this?
Yes, we offer a thorough assessment and report that identifies the underlying factors affecting the person’s language literacy skills. Based on this, we offer practical, evidence-based strategies and recommendations that can be used at home and in the classroom to support progress.
Is this approach suitable for clients of all ages?
Yes we work with clients aged 4 to adults.
What do sessions look like?
Each personalised session follows the OG/MSL approach where reading, spelling and writing are broken down into smaller skills and are reviewed and built on over time. Routines are predictable and the content is sequential, incremental and cumulative.
What qualifications do educators have?
All educators have additional specialised qualifications to their education qualifications. These could include IMSLE from the Australian Dyslexia Association, Sounds Write or Orton Gillingham training. Our educators are committed to ongoing professional learning and mentoring through our TTL network.
How does it work online?
We use Zoom for online sessions. If this is in the home, parents/carers are expected to remain at the premises and be available for post session feedback. If during school time, these sessions are completed with a learning support staff member either working with the student or nearby.
Will there be follow-up activities?
Follow-up activities are set on a case-by-case basis, please ask if you’d like some guidance for weekly follow-up at home.
Do you run small group sessions?
Yes, however, our clients and their wellbeing is a central element of our approach. It is after discussions with parents and clients that a small group session will be agreed upon.
Does this language therapy replace existing learning support in schools?
Language therapy is an evidenced-based therapy, not intended to replace existing learning support in schools.
Can you attend IEP meetings for your clients?
Yes, your educator therapist can attend an IEP meeting or provide feedback for your IEP meeting, speak with them to arrange this.
